Solon High School Senior

Makayla - class of 2017

Isn't that hat so so great!?  I just love the colors in Kayla's first outfit and we had so much fun together during her senior photoshoot in Iowa City.  She brought so many awesome accessories to use it almost seems like she got 8 different outfits instead of 4.

I like to read when I have time or find a really good book.  So does Kayla!  She had a list of must-reads a mile long.  I can't wait to get my hands on some of the suggestions she gave me.  It was so fun using some of her favorite books in a whimsical setting so create a portrait that is truly unique to her.

thank you makayla for being so uniquely you!  I had a blast with you at your photo shoot and can't wait to share more!

Leah - class of 2017

Leah and I had so much fun at her senior photo shoot a few days ago.  She picked out such great outfits and I had a blast finding locations in Iowa City that perfectly matched the urban/nature vibe that her and her mom wanted to get.  This time of year is my favorite for outfits; jackets, scarves and other accessories can seriously enhance your wardrobe and polish off the perfect look for your senior portraits.  Oh yeah, can't forget boots and shoes!  You will never go wrong with converse...

Thank you Leah for so much fun at your session.  I can't wait for you to see the rest of your images in your proof gallery!

Logan - class of 2017

Such an honor to photograph Logan this year after meeting his sister a couple years ago for her senior photo shoot.  I had so much fun finding spots for Logan that would exactly match his personality.  We started out using the (almost) fall tones in Iowa City Park.  Logan enjoys spending time near the Coralville Lake and this look personifies that perfectly.  After battling some bugs we decided to head to the downtown Iowa City area for the rest of the shoot.

We found locations with a variety of styles, from the Old Capital to a grungy ally to a parking garage, all within a few blocks of each other.  I love the color of Logan's dress shirt with the sandy tones at the Old Cap.  Would you say that's "watermelon"?  After that his last two outfits were a bit more casual and his maroon henley with the rusty ally stairs was a perfect match.  After that we used my favorite parking ramp...yes i have a favorite parking ramp. :)

If you are looking for a completely custom senior portrait experience like Logan's, drop me a line and say Hi!  I am currently booking photo shoots for November and have a handful left for the year.  I would be so excited to plan your custom senior session!

Thanks Logan for being completely natural and making the photo shoot super great.  I can't wait to release your proof gallery.  Good Luck with the rest of senior year!

Iowa City/North Liberty Senior

Shea - class of 2017

Oh my...where do I begin.  Shea's photo shoot was AMAZING!  From downtown Iowa City ally ways to country fields and barns she got it all!  We started in the downtown area where I challenged myself to shoot a highly photographed location just slightly different.  Then we headed to a little less common spot where I have never photographed before!

I can't wait to find out how far Shea travels in life.  She is going in to the fashion industry (can you tell?) and loves make up.  She is also really amazing at applying it.  Incredible things will be done by her for the beauty community.

From downtown we headed out to a country field where we used an American flag to honor her dad's Olympic gold medal.  Yes you read correct...an Olympic gold medal!  How cool is that?

Are you looking for a completely unique senior portrait experience?  Look no further!  I am now booking senior photo shoots in November.  No, it's not too cold.  Yes, you should contact me today!  Right now!  This very minute...

Shea's photo shoot ended at the most amazing farm with the perfect red barns and vines.  It was one to remember!

Thanks so much Shea for an incredible time and good luck at Iowa State!

Danny, class of 2017

Danny's photo shoot started out a little weird.  On our way to his acreage just outside of Iowa City we ran across an accident where a single car almost knocked a power line pole completely over.  Luckily the driver walked away and seemed to be ok.  After scooting around a bunch of cops and an ambulance we used the trees at his property for his first outfit then I got to see his amazing 4 wheelers.  We almost skipped that part but I'm so glad we didn't.

After some fun shots with the 4 wheeler we traveled through town to city park.  The traffic was crazy due to construction but we made it!

We ended Danny's senior session with a few photos downtown Iowa City utilizing a couple grungy back alleys.  I love how his blue T makes his eyes pop against the rusty background.  If you are looking for a unique senior portrait experience I still have openings for class of 2017 seniors.  Make sure to say 'Hi' and subscribe to the VIP email list.

Danny, I'm so glad I got to meet you and create your senior portraits!  Have fun with the harvest and the rest of senior year!

Country Senior Guy

Ian - class of 2017

Ian lives on the coolest property in the rural area near Homestead, Iowa.  Thankfully he wanted to have his full session on his families land that included a rocky stream, open prairie grasses, barbed wire fence, tree house, soccer goal and thats just to name a few areas we used for his senior portraits.

As you can see, Ian is a soccer player.  I had a blast using his goal to create some really cool portraits of him doing one of the things he loves best, I might have made him take a few dives.  You'll have to ask him about it once his proof gallery goes live in a couple days!

Thank you, Ian, for showing me around your amazing property and good luck with your upcoming soccer seasons.

Palisades Kepler State Park Senior

Ellie - class of 2017

I have been dying to photograph a senior at Palisades Kepler State Park near Mount Vernon and Ellie finally gave me the chance.  She chose to have her photo shoot surrounded with nature and what better place than this?  Starting out at the lodge we found some gorgeous wild flowers and took advantage of the unique stone building.

From the Lodge we went down to the banks of the Cedar River where there are amazing drift wood formations.  I had so much fun utilizing these logs to create fun poses and a unique beach look.  I hope you've enjoyed viewing these images as much as I enjoyed creating them.  If you are looking for a completely custom senior portrait experience I still have a handful of spots left for fall photo shoots.  Contact me TODAY to grab one before they are all gone!

Thanks for a crazy fun photo shoot Ellie!  I can't wait to share more of your images!

Iowa City Senior Gal

Claire - class of 2017

I like to swim, or rather, at one point in my life I loved to swim.  But in the craziness that is called high school I never pursued that passion.  Miss Claire, on the other hand, is an excellent swimmer.  She even does long distance races!  I had so much fun learning about her love of the sport during her photo shoot around Iowa City.  We started out at hotelVetro taking advantage of the beautiful window light and simple design elements.  From there found some grungy (and need I say stinky) ally ways downtown.

Toward the end of her session we ventured away from the downtown area and ended up in a field of wild flowers just near her home neighborhood.  This time of the year has the best flowers!

THANK YOU Claire for an amazing photo shoot, and putting up with all my silly swimming questions, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY tomorrow!

Urban Senior - Iowa City

Elisa - class of 2017

Elisa was supposed to have her senior photo shoot last week, but it was too dang hot!  So we picked a new day and got so lucky!  We scored a perfect partly cloudy day in the 80's with a slight breeze.  I met Elisa and her mom outside of the IMU in Iowa City and from there explored the various art buildings on campus, old and new.

We started out at the Iowa Advanced Technology Laboratories taking advantage of the modern silver reflection and neutral tones.   I've known (and photographed) Elisa for quote a few years so needless to say the session started off without a hitch!

From there we ventured over the river to the old Art Building and found the prefect location for her second outfit.  I love the old windows and moss growing in between the bricks.

After making a quick change in the portable changing room we crossed the street and found some crazy foliage to get a more natural feel.  Then ended up at Art Building West for the final outfit of the day before getting locked out of the west high track where we had panned some track pics.  Don't worry, we'll finish her photo shoot soon showcasing her amazing running skills.

THANKS ELISA for an amazing session, I had a blast!

Aubrey - class of 2017

It was so hard to choose just a few of my favorites from Aubrey's senior photo shoot.  She chose some really cute outfits and her fun and relaxed personality really put the icing on the cake.  We started out Downtown Iowa City at the Moen Building for a contemporary location to go with the formal teal dress above.  From there we continued to explore the area while making our way to the Old Capitol for her tulle skirt and heels.

As I'm posting this Aubrey is rocking the beach volleyball world at nationals, in between club season and school season.  I can't wait to find out how she is doing and continue to be amazed at her VB skills with her team at West.  I was lucky to schedule her photo shoot despite her crazy schedule even though it was a little hot and sticky.  She slayed her session and we ended with a cooling dip in a...well you'll just have to scroll down to find out.

THANKS Aubrey for a super fun photo shoot.  I can't wait to finish your proof gallery and show you all of your amazing images.  GOOD LUCK at nationals!

Logan - Class of 2017

When I met Logan I quickly learned of all the things he loves about life; having fun with friends, getting his tuck muddy and finding crazy places to ride his dirt bike.  I knew right off the bat that we needed to include these things in his senior portrait session and then I found out that his truck was given to him by his grandpa.  No brainer!  We met at a dead end street that was perfect for parking his truck and getting a little dirty.  I got to hear about all the crazy things that he and his friends do and create some great portraits of Logan at the same time.  This is only the first half of his portrait experience and I can't wait to finish his session when the leaves change in the fall.  Maybe I'll let him wash his truck for those...

Iowa City Senior Photos

Bethany, class of 2017

Bethany contacted me for an early spring photo shoot, even though she doesn't graduate for over a year.  Why?  Because she spends her whole summer teaching kids at a christian summer camp and wanted to have her senior portraits done before she left!  Needless to say I was not surprised when she told me how much she loves nature and the outdoors and that she wanted to portray that in her senior portraits.  The photo above is one of my favorites from the session.  It was the very last set of images we did at Iowa City Park.  I love the dreamy morning sunlight with the first flowers of spring.  For most of her session you can't even tell that we never left town!

We met for her photo shoot near the University of Iowa School of Nursing and explored the campus grounds around that area.  There were so many amazing locations that showcased the time of year and perfectly matched the look Bethany was going for.

Thanks Bethany for an amazing portrait experience, I cant wait to deliver your order very soon!

Family Portraits - Palisades Park

The Frascht Family

I've known Sheila (aka mom) for many years through the the UIHC Cherished Portraits Program and was honored when she asked me to photograph her son Hogan's senior portraits.  He graduated this year (pictured 3rd from the left in top photo) and what better time than now to document their family as new members are added and before Hogan goes off to college?

I met them at Palisades Park near Cedar Rapids on a steamy Saturday morning and couldn't have been happier about this location on the Cedar River.

I had the beach to myself when I arrived but was joined by a total of 3 other photographers that day.  Good thing I got there early and had first choice of shooting spots.  I chose the smaller of the two driftwood pieces because it was facing the correct direction for lighting and gave a little more wiggle room for posing.

Iowa City Senior Photo Shoot

ANNA - WEST HIGH - CLASS OF 2017

iowa-city-senior-photography-004.jpg

Anna is one of the first to be photographed this senior season and I am so excited to show some sneak peeks of her amazing photo shoot!  I knew her session would be awesome when we met for her styling consult and saw the outfit choices she had made.  We had such a great time exploring downtown Iowa City finding the prefect locations for her wardrobe.

For her first outfit I chose one of my favorite places to photograph...a parking ramp.  The neutral tones and clean lines matched her grey top and made her jewelry pop!  I can always find interesting light patterns on sunny days near a parking ramp.

Anna rocked a sweater despite the upper 90 degree weather, and wore a super cute romper for her last look.  I paired it with some greenery while staying true to the urban style she wanted to achieve for her senior portrait experience.

Thank You Anna for a crazy fun senior photo shoot, I can't wait for you to see the rest of your images!
